ADVISORY
FOUNDER-LED STRATEGIC ADVISORY FOR TEXTILE AND FASHION SYSTEMS
bricolage HSZ offers early-stage product and material decision advisory
for organisations preparing for regulatory change and long-term product responsibility.
Work is led by Henrietta Szakonyi and begins where early design decisions determine material responsibility, regulatory exposure, and future cost.
We are typically brought in before pilots or infrastructure investments —
when teams need clarity on what should be developed, adjusted, reduced, or stopped.
The scale remains deliberately small.
The intention is not transformation at once, but decisions made with greater continuity
"Responsibility is not created by better products, but by better relationships."
MY NICHE
My advisory work operates at the intersection of:
material behaviour and limits
design logic and use-phase thinking
regulatory reality and system consequences
I specialise in natural fibres, durability, repair and remade systems — not as isolated practices, but as design conditions with economic and regulatory impact.
This is not trend forecasting.
It is design-led systems thinking grounded in material reality, time, and implementation risk.
This work informs early advisory sessions and product-level decision workshops.
WHEN THIS WORK BECOMES NECESSARY
I work with organisations when:
core products are adjusted season after season without clarity on lifespan
regulatory pressure increases but design decisions remain unaligned
sustainability efforts begin too late in the process
teams sense that products are creating future cost or compliance pressure
THE FIELDS I WORK WITHIN
My work is structured around three interdependent fields:
Time as a design parameter
How products are allowed to age, change, and remain meaningful — instead of being regularly replaced.Use as a design phase
How use, care, repair, and transformation are integrated intentionally into development decisions.Coexistence as a structure
How responsibility across product, company, and regulation can be designed early —
not as moral framing, but as a logical consequence of material and policy reality.
FRAMEWORKS & THOUGHT LEADERSHIP
HSZ Advisory is informed by two evolving frameworks:
Nature-First Design
Design for Seven Seasons
These frameworks are continuously developed through:
applied research
studio practice
teaching and collaboration
They also inform my writing and publishing work, including a biannual regenerative fashion publication — a practical thinking tool for organisations preparing for upcoming regulatory and material shifts.
WHAT THIS WORK IS — AND IS NOT
This advisory does not focus on:
ESG reports
certifications
carbon accounting
supplier audits
My work begins before these processes —
where decisions are made about what is developed, how long it will last, and how it will be handled under emerging regulation.
It creates clarity and durable decision-making
that reduces future cost, material loss, and implementation risk.
RELATIONSHIP TO STUDIO & CO-LAB
HSZ Advisory stands on its own.
It may inform:
Studio work (design logic, methodologies)
Co-Lab projects (pilots and infrastructure)
—but it is not tied to implementation or delivery
WORKING TOGETHER
This work is for organisations that:
take material decisions seriously
anticipate regulatory change
want durable product and system decisions
prefer clarity before committing to costly implementation
